Team Sett or Team Azure? Who Should Nina the Starry-Eyed Bride End Up With?

"Nina the Starry Bride" is a shojo anime that premiered in October 2024. The anime follows the story of an orphan girl "Nina". Nina was discovered in the slums of the Land of Fortuna by the Prince Azure. Prince Azure was looking for a replacement princess since the one they had tragically passed. When he found Nina with the same colored eyes as the princess, he took her back to the castle. From that point on Nina was molded to behave like a princess who was to be married off to an enemy nation.
With all the time Nina and Prince Azure spent together preparing her to be a princess, they ended up falling in love. But the issue was Nina was already promised to the nation of Galgada. Galgada was a strong nation that could very well invade the Land of Fortuna whenever it felt like it. Nina was determined to go and protect Fortuna. Even at the cost of leaving the man she loved behind.
Fast forward through some drama and Nina is finally in Galgada where she meets her husband to be. Or so she thought.. The prince of Galgada (Prince Sett) at first impression was a womanizer and kind of evil. Nina was not the only princess there fighting for their country to be the next queen. However Nina did end up being the only princess who lasted the "torment" of living with Prince Sett.
However our first impression of Prince Sett starts to waiver the more time they spend together. Sett's backstory gets revealed to us slowly and we start to understand why he is the way that he is. Nina starts to chip away at the Sett that is untrusting and cold. Sett starts to let his guard down around her. We soon see them fall for each other in a beautiful way.
It would be great if they had a happily ever after moment but that is not the case. Prince Azure in the Land of Fortuna is crowned the new king. He and a few other "messengers" head to Galgada to share the news. Of course, King Azure goes undercover but Nina knows right away that he is among the messengers. The spark between them is still there and one night King Azure tells Nina he is going to bring her back home.
So now we have this love triangle. Prince Sett or King Azure? On the one hand Prince Sett had a really bad first impression, that included him slicing Nina across the chest. But now Nina has become a person Sett needs. She settles him and Nina loves that he needs her. If you can move passed how he treated her at first, then they make a lovely match.
King Azure and Nina are also beautiful. They're in a way both phonies. They came to the position they are in out of necessity after sudden deaths in the royal family. They spent quality time together before Nina left the country and they were in love. They acknowledged they were in love.
Now before we can answer who Nina should choose, let's go over how the first season ended. King Azure went back to Fortuna and I think they're preparing to go to war with Galgada. Which makes sense because Azure said he wanted Nina back and Galgada was planning to invade Fortuna regardless.
Prince Sett however was poisoned and almost died by the hand of the youngest prince of Galgada. When he awoke from his coma state he ends up what looks like killing the youngest prince and asking for Nina. But Nina was being taken to a far away prison. Because Nina was the only person in the room when Sett got poisoned, she was blamed. The youngest prince arranged for her to be sent to some obscure prison that no one was aware of apparently.
Now, putting the politics aside.. Who should Nina choose? Prince Sett or King Azure. I am not aware of anything in the manga. I am purely going off the anime and this is my personal opinion. I am TEAM SETT.
I was really conflicted with this one. I really like King Azure. I love what they had, what they still have. But I think Nina has grown from that. Even in a short period of time, Nina and Prince Sett have had so much character development together. I love the way she settles Sett. In a way Nina completes Sett.
Sett had a really bad upbringing, like horrible. Nina's backstory is bad but Sett's is way worse. She brings a peace over him and Nina enjoys being that peace. She's getting to enjoy the man he is with her. He went as far to say he wouldn't invade Fortuna just because she asked him.
For me it's Sett for Nina. I could make an argument to Azure as well but my mind is made up. I want them for EACH OTHER.
